The brief
Cypress Clothiers sells premium, minimalist menswear, and the brand lives in its photography. A standard theme couldn't give the store the calm, editorial feel the clothes call for, so we built a custom front end and left the catalog and checkout on Shopify.
What I built
- A headless storefront in Next.js that reads products and collections from the Shopify Storefront API.
- A custom cart that hands off to Shopify's checkout, so payments stay on a platform customers already trust.
- Customer accounts, plus appointment booking for in-person fittings.
- Editorial pages with scroll and loading animations that set the pace without getting in the way of shopping.
- Discount pricing, and a maintenance mode the team can switch on during drops and updates.
How it's built
Next.js renders the store and Shopify stays the source of truth for the catalog. Supabase handles accounts and Resend sends transactional email. The animations are built with Framer Motion and kept off the critical path, so the store still feels quick on a phone.
Results
The store has run on this setup since 2024 and brings in about $5K a month (reported by the client). I still work on it, adding features as the brand grows.
